Bandai Hobby and the fashion-forward brand PHANTACI have joined forces for a striking new Master Grade release, the MG 1/100 PHANTACI Freedom Gundam Ver.J. This collaboration reimagines the iconic Freedom Gundam through the lens of PHANTACI’s design philosophy, mixing mecha craftsmanship with the bold aesthetics of high fashion.
PHANTACI was founded by global superstar Jay Chou (周杰倫) and fashion innovator Ric, and has become known for fusing sporty energy with street-inspired style. Their designs are born from everyday inspiration, with Jay bringing free-spirited creativity and Ric refining it with uncompromising quality. Together, they create pieces that radiate both flair and sophistication, and now their vision has taken shape in Gunpla form.
The concept for this collaboration builds upon the base of the MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0. Continuing the theme of “mysterious jet-black power,” the Ver.J introduces PHANTACI’s signature pink as a vibrant accent. The design symbolizes liberation and forward motion, with the Gundam’s wide-spread wings and commanding stance expressing the power to break free of constraints and push ahead without fear.
Color is central to this design. Deep black armor is enriched with a combination of matte and pearl finishes, gold highlights add a sense of luxury, and vivid pink elements crafted from transparent material glow brilliantly when light passes through. The result is a Gundam that feels both powerful and refined, balancing mechanical strength with fashion-inspired vibrancy.
